A not-for-profit, non-denominational family service agency dedicated to strengthening and empowering families and individuals through a high quality service within a respectful, caring environment. Group programs designed end intimate partner violence are available for men and for women. Support groups for women in abusive relationships are also offered.

Provides a safe and supportive temporary shelter environment, crisis services, counselling, outreach, transitional support, advocacy, early childhood education, and support groups to women, youth and their children. Delivers programs and services in a culturally-appropriate manner to address the legal and justice issues of NAN communities. The Victim Witness Liaison (VWL) program helps victims and witnesses by providing information and support, making referrals to community and government agencies, and liaising with criminal court personnel. Victim Witness Liaisons cannot contact or assist a perpetrator (offender). They only assist with the victims and witnesses and/or those who are assisting victims and witnesses.

Offers a variety of culturally-enriched programs and services aimed to improve the quality of life for Aboriginal women and their families regardless of their status or locality. The Community Wellness program is designed to assist Aboriginal women and their families in the community who may be experiencing family violence or who may be struggling with maintaining a healthy lifestyle. An Aboriginal Victim and Family Liaison is available to provide culturally sensitive community-based victim services for Aboriginal women impacted by violence.

Formally known as the THUNDER BAY SEXUAL ASSAULT & SEXUAL ABUSE COUNSELLING & CRISIS CENTRE, this non-profit, incorporated organization operates independently of the hospital, courts and police. The agency provides: Counselling (brief, short term and long term up to one year) and Client Advocacy: Information, accompaniment, and preparation through the criminal justice system, assistance with Criminal Injury Compensation claims, Victim Impact Statements.

sexual assault/domestic violence treatment centre (TBRHSC)
An individualized service available to victims and survivors of sexual assault and/or domestic violence. Located within the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBDHSC), the program provides emergency medical and psycho-social treatment as well as follow-up care, by specially-trained nurses.
The care that we provide is totally patient-centred and focuses on choices made by the victim/survivor. We are not here to tell you what you should do. We are here to support you and help you do what you know is best for your personal situation.

Thunder Bay and Area Victim Services (VCARS)
The VCARS program is a community response program providing immediate on-site service to victims of crime or disaster, 24 hours, seven days a week. With the consent of a victim, emergency services request a team of trained VCARS volunteers to provide on-site, short-term assistance to victims and offer referrals to community agencies for longer-term assistance

Thunder Bay Counselling Centre
Provides counselling and support services specifically for women with multiple needs or who are working to overcome several life challenges at the same time, such as trauma, violence, abuse, substance use, and parenting. We also support children who have witnessed or have been impacted by violence against their mother. Services are offered through one unique location at the Centre's Hope Place; a safe, welcoming and child-friendly environment. Our wide range of services include counselling, registered group and drop-in sessions that are supported by childminding services.

Victim Witness Assistance Program
Provides information, assistance and support to victims and witnesses of crime throughout the criminal justice process in order to increase their understanding of, and participation in, the criminal justice process. Offered by the Ontario Victim Services Secretariat, VWAP services include crisis intervention, needs assessment, referrals to community agencies, emotional support, case specific information (court dates, bail conditions) and court preparation and orientation.
